I noticed that in several issues past, Make It Better had an advertisement about Alden Estates of Skokie Rehabilitation program. Needing to have a knee replacement, I decided to check it out for my post surgery rehab. From the front entrance to the end of the tour I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the facility. Having had to place my mother in a nursing home and then visiting her there for the next 6 heartbreaking years, I knew it would have been very hard for me to have done my rehab at a nursing home/rehab facility.
I just wanted to let you know that my (and every other patient there at the time)experience was unbelievably pleasant. Every staff member from the nurses, PT’s, nursing assistants, dining staff, activity coordinators, social worker, and maintenance people knew and did their jobs well and also seemed to love doing them. It made it so much easier for us to do our PT when you are surrounded by competence and smiling faces.
I was happy to find out that the monies collected from the sale of items from the gift shop and extra meals for guests were donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society—a giving back—which I know is one of Make It Better’s mission.
Thanks for all you do for our community (and all you did for Julie!)
